Lampwork Glass Beads
Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements.
I first started lampworking in 1998'. Being a fast learner I started teaching the art of lampwork within a few years. I taught professionally from 2000'-2010' at studios, museums, and at the University of Miami summer program for five years in a row before passing it on to another glass artist.
I still take private students, but mainly make my own work selling individual beads or fashioning necklaces from them. There will be new work for sale in my shop in January of 2023'.
In Octobre 2021' I visited Venice and was fortunate to see the island of Murano, as well as the hidden gem that is Orsoni. It is the last and only glass manufacturer allowed to have crucibles on the actual island of Venice itself. Hidden like a magic garden behind a non descript door in a brick wall. It was beautiful!
